OUR COMMUNITY

communityChapman Valley Primary School is at the heart of our community and our community is at the heart of our school.

The school community is very supportive as is evident from involvement in school projects. Our wonderful P&C provides much support and additional resources for the children. Dedicated members of the School Council have an active role in the school’s planning process.

The P&C and School Council meet regularly throughout the year. There is also a dedicated band of volunteers made up of parents and the wider community, who regularly attend Breakfast Club, where they listen to students read.

We are very lucky to have a wide variety of expertise within our community, where we have regular visitors able to provide lessons in manual arts, history, travel and cooking and provide assistance at carnivals and fundraising events.

The students, teachers and parents of our school are actively engaged with a wide variety of educational and community projects. The Chapman Valley Show, school assemblies, school and community newsletters, parent information sessions, the annual Mothers’ Day community morning tea, visiting Nazareth House and the end of year school concert are all events that have been utilised to showcase the achievements of the school.

Chapman Valley also works closely with other schools within the district; participating with Binnu and Yuna Primary School in NCVISSA sporting activities, joining with Binnu for swimming lessons and practise, combined schools days with Binnu, Yuna and Northampton for special events and numerous incursions and excursions that have all helped to ensure that we are providing a well-rounded education for our students in a very supportive environment.

In order to maximise the opportunities for the students of Chapman Valley, students receive instruction for Indonesian from SIDE. Specialist teachers provide instruction via video links. The CHUNABI collaboration between Chapman Valley, Yuna and Binnu Primary Schools offers students with access to specialist teachers in the areas of Music, Health and Phys Ed and expanded social and emotional outcomes. This collaboration also features to reduce staff isolation, workload and develop collegiate relationships.
